Landscaping Design and Build

The Hillside Group offers a full spectrum of landscaping design services. Simple designs, such as for a small back yard landscaping project, may be performed at no extra cost, or our staff landscape designer can create a master plan. For larger projects that require architectural expertise, we will arrange a consultation with one of the landscape planning and architectural firms that we work with on a regular basis. We have a small growing plant nursery in Lunenburg Mass., from which we provide specimen-sized evergreens for our clients. Your project is important to us, and we stress proper planning so that you will enjoy the results of your landscaping project for years to come.

Hardscape Design

Just about every project requires proper planning and implementation of hardscape. Paths, walks, and driveways need to fit into your landscape plans at the right time. We integrate hardscape projects into the landscaping design, or create separate hardscape designs for home building and improvement projects.

Yard Drainage

Solving drainage problems can be an important part of creating an enduring landscape for your home or yard. We first evaluate whether the problems are created by surface water or sub-surface drainage and then craft a solution based on the topography of the site. This could include installation of gutters, catch basins, or French drains. In some cases, grading the site and creating proper drainage swales will solve the problem. We can also help with damp basements or repeated basement flooding and install sump pumps if needed.

Water Features

Water features are an increasingly popular feature in many garden designs. We build waterfalls, ponds and water gardens that can add focus and tranquility to any landscape. Our skilled stonemasons can craft distinctive rock formations that enhance the beauty of flowing water in your yard. Waterfall construction is sometimes done in conjunction with pool landscaping.
